I have never seen a speaking animal, but I have seen many humans that I wish could not speak! 80-)
But seriously folks,
It's an interesting consideration to see the serpent speaking to Eve and then to realise that she does not seem surprised by it. Did other animals have the power of speech in the Garden of Eden and why do they not now? No one knows or will know until the end.
Did God (does God), the Creator of all things, set up opportunities for humans to see what they will do? I think He does.
Who is responsible for the bad decisions made in these situations and their repercussions? The person making the decision.
Make an informed choice.
Make a free will choice.
Choose Jesus.

No, I have never seen a speaking snake. The snake(serpent) in Eden was the image of Satan. HIs presence brought temptation to Eve, then Adam. That was how sin and temptation were introduced to us. It was not entrapment, for the temptation was Satan's work. He stands for evil and traps us whenever he can. God will save us from Satan's grip if we ask Him.

Apparently, if we are to believe scripture, (and don't ask why anyone with half a mind would believe scripture), God allowed Lucifer in the form of a serpent to enter Eden with the express purpose of convincing Eve to eat the apple and thereby gain the knowledge of good and evil. Clearly God WANTED Eve and Adam to gain this knowledge, otherwise he would NOT have created a fruit tree capable of bestowing such knowledge.
Seem a little inconsistant? Big surprise...
