According to Australian immigration law, a person born in Australia after August 20, 1986, does not acquire citizenship automatically unless at least one parent was either a citizen or a permanent resident.

He would be an Australian citizen if his Father is one. If he was just born there with both Parents being American or non Australia then NO he would only inherit your citizenship's.

Not many countries are as dumb as the USA to grant citizenship to a baby just because he/she is born in their territory. Based on that I think your baby does not have Australian citizenship. Google it and you probably will be able to confirm this answer.
The US Constitution was amended shortly after the civil war to mass grant citizenship to slaves living in the US. It should be re-amended to delete this amendment.

I think he does, but it depends on Australia's laws. How did you get stationed in Australia????? I never knew we had a billet there except for the Marines at the embassy.

No, Australia doesn't work that way. The only way he could is if his father was an Aussie and is on the birth certificate.

actually yes i think he does... i was born in japan and i think that my mom told me that i have dual citizenship till I'm 18

Depends on where he was born. On the ship then he is US, in an Australian hospital then i believe he has both.
