Well, if they're in a different state then you can report them to the FBI I believe. That's what people did when they got ripped off by a local guy on Ebay.

First decide what it will take to get "satisfaction". You can start with your local police, but often local agencies don't want to fool with it. If that is the case, see if your state has a Department of Consumer Affairs or something similar...believe it or not these agencies often have criminal investigators who pursue this type of violation, make arrests, serve search warrants, etc.
If all else fails check with the Federal Trade Commission, if nothing more they keep a database of fraudulent activities that can be a valuable resource to future investigations, even if it doesn't help with your case. Good luck.

Remember, it's usually very tricky to get criminal intent unless the seller has waited more than 30 days to deliver after they receive payment. And ALWAYS keep some kind of record of the payment (receipts, credit card statements, etc) so you can prove they actually got your money.

If you do not check a company before entering into a transaction, you could lose your money, time and credibility. Some widely used resources are the Better Business Bureau (www.bbb.org) and the national fraud center ( www.fraud.org) These days, you can easily find out more about a company using the internet in a few minutes. From a company's website, you can details about its ownership, how old the company really is and feedback from the company's customers.

You can always call the Better Business Bureau before you actually do business with any company.

If you're in the U.S. In most states you can contact the Attorney General's office. Most of these offices have a consumer protection or consumer affairs section that will take complaints.

Here's a list of links to U.S. state attorney general offices:

Good luck

Contact your credit card issuer and have them charge it back. Have done this a fair number of times.
