I don't understand the logic going on with them. On the one hand they are furious about companies moving operations to cheap overseas labor markets that close factories and take jobs from Americans, but on the other hand they are in favor of bringing in that same cheap labor into the US to not only take those same jobs from Americans, but also require us to take care of the foreign workers.

They figure they will get more votes, their kids go to private schools, and their own jobs will be protected by a bigger number of (they hope) Democrats.

Truthfully, I believe they only want immigrants in because Republicans don't want them in. Somehow everyone got it backwards. Democrats should be against it because it takes jobs away from the constituency, but Republicans should be for it because it is better for big business, the businesses pay lower wages and no benefits so it should bring more support from them. And the illegal immigrants can't vote so the Democrats get no help while the Republicans would get cheap labor. But, politics is interesting precisely because of its unpredictability.

Actually, it's the businesses that are in favor of having cheap labor. Somebody is hiring all those people, and not reporting them as illegal.
