As the majority of internet websites run on unix servers, I would say it is a good thing to learn.

It is still relevant in certain situations. However you are much more likely to use a Windows or Linux OS. If you are a newbie and interested in unix I would probably go with Linux. It is much more popular ,easy to find free, and is used by many universities in classes.

Unix will always be relevant. Nothing runs without some kind of unix

Absolutely it is. Unix is the underlying code of both major operating systems.

Any code you learn helps you understand computers and prepares you for the next generation of languages and operating systems.

Learning more is always a good thing.

Yes, Unix is VERY relevant! *nix systems are used extensively in industry and Linux is a member of the family.

Even if you never use Unix in your networking career, a good understanding of it will help you to understand networking immensely, especially TCP/IP.
