No you cannot put a video on your ipod nano. Only on a ipod video. You can only put pictures from your digital camera on an ipod nano

Yes! Even if you have a picture ipod you can do it. Check out Podzilla: http://www.makezine.com/blog/archive/2005/09/how_to_play_video_on_ipods_wit.html

There are a lot of 3rd party apps that you can use to put files on your ipod. It just depends on what you're most comfortable using. I use iTunes just because I only use my iPod for music. But there have been other instances when I have transferred the contents of my ipod onto my computer, essentially bypassing iTunes' restriction on it.

Your iPod is a mini computer. Enjoy!

UPDATE:

I saw that you had a Nano. I think they're working on getting a video hack for it. Go here: http://ipodlinux.org/Main_Page

If you can download whatever video you took and put it on iTunes you should be able to put it on the iPod. Only if it's a video iPod though of course. If the video is saved somewhere else you can go to File on iTunes. Then import file. Then you find the video and if it's compatible it should download into you library, then iPod.
