No, but it's misguided. The Bible talks of repentence before baptism, and a kid can't do that.

No, it is not abuse, but is abomination in God's eye, because what does a child knows about sin. Even though he was born with sin, still doesn't know right from wrong.

Jesus was our best example in Baptism, He was baptist at the age 30, not when he was a baby. When He was baby at the 8 days, he was presented to God Father.

Where I go, we present the child to God, not baptism. When they start know right from wrong and the reason for baptism, then they are baptized.

Child abuse? How could that be child abuse? In my church we don't baptize babies or young children. You get baptized at whatever age you are ready. For me that was this year. Infant baptism isn't a full immersion so you are not dunking your baby. It's pouring water over the head. How would that be abuse? Even if you are baptized at a young age you are not forever stuck with your decision. You have to believe in what you were baptized for. I was 8 when I was baptized Mormon. I am not a Mormon, and i don't consider myself one just because i was baptized one. I found my church when i was an adult and that is what i am.

No, it's not child abuse. It's just a misunderstanding (in my humble opinion) of when baptism should occur. I think the people who baptize infants are doing so because they believe that it will cleanse the child of the sin-curse we're all born into. But since babies have no concept of their potential for sin or forgiveness for that matter, it's a waste to baptize them. The Scripture says that we are to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling. How does a baby have the thought process to understand that? I believe a person has to come to a realization and understanding of their accountability of the Word of God, the sin in their life, and what to do to fix it.

Baptism of young children came about historically when Christianity became the majority religion and a family had no reason to think they couldn't include their whole household when becoming Christian or that their offspring wouldn't always be Christian. Today it is a happy event that initiates a child into a community who share the same faith.

Eh?

Some may agree with it. Some may disagree with it. But how in the name of all that is holy could sprinkling water on an infant's forehead in any way be considered to even remotely approach child abuse?

Please tell me if such an opinion ever becomes a consensus. I'll ensure the local gestapo runs around arresting anyone who buys a baby bathtub or an inflatable pool.

no it is not child abuse but if they dont understand what decision they are making why would you baptise them? they should be fully aware of the decision to serve GOD and be able to do so whole heartedly and as a child they do not have the ability. every question that you have can be answered through reading the bible it is the only book that Jehovah God provided for us to make the right decisions, take advantage of it. Psalms 83:18 (this one talks about God having a name, his name is Jehovah); 2 Timothy 3:16 (this one states that the bible is beneficial for teaching) you can learn a lot more if you put your mind to it and go to the Bible for your answers you'll always be satisfied. i hope this helped

no it is not child abuse. but it is wrong when a child is born they are the purest thing in the world the have comitted no sin. And they are not resposible enough until there 8 years old to real no right from wrong. so it is not right baptise a baby when they have done nothein wrong.

Not actual child abuse, but as a victim of the Catholic Cult indoctrination myself, I would like to see the CC's stop doing so, thus wait for kids to mature, then allow them to make their own choice.
