Best weapon for weight loss is your eating plan. Here's a very simple eating plan for weight loss:
1. Eat only when you're hungry (READ: Your stomach will be grumbling. If it isn't making noise, you're not hungry, and if it's making noise within 90 minutes of eating something, it's digesting your last meal, so wait)
2. Don't stuff. Start by cutting your food portions down by 1/3 to 1/2, eat slower than normal, and stop eating when you feel satisfied. If you start to feel full, you've eaten too much. This may require you to eat more often during the day, but as long as you're only feeding yourself when your body is signaling you that it needs food, you're cool.
3. No between meal snacks, and no between meal beverages except water, diet soda (not recommended), or unsweetened coffee/tea.
4. Avoid foods with high fructose corn syrup or any type of partially hydrogenated oil whenever possible. They are the mother and father of dietary evil. Unfortunately, you'll find them in just about every soft drink and snack item on the planet.
5. The following foods are your allies for weight loss:
-- Nuts, any kind (almonds are best, watch the salt)
-- Beans and other legumes
-- Green vegetables (spinach is good, iceberg lettuce is useless)
-- Lowfat dairy products
-- Eggs (high in "good" fat)
-- Olive oil (also high in "good" fat)
-- Lean meats, especially fish and poultry
-- Peanut butter (all-natural, no sugar added)
-- Whole grain breads/cereals/pasta (Barilla Plus is GREAT!!!)
-- Any type of berries, except Cap'n Crunch's Crunch Berries
Your other weapon is exercise. Try to do something every day, even if it's just a 15-minute walk. Don't go overboard on cardio though. Any more than one hour of continuous cardio and you risk burning muscle (for men, any more than 30 minutes and you risk burning muscle)
And for crying out loud DON'T take fat burners like Relacore or Hydroxycut or anything like that. They can mess with your metabolism and can be lethal. Even if you can take them safely and lose weight, you'll gain it all back -- with interest -- once you stop taking the pills.
Good luck!

Have a healthy ballanced diet (eat healthy 80% of the time and treat yourself for 20%) and get atleast one hours exercise a day. Do something fun so you don't get bored and give up. Maybe try loads of different activites every day?
It makes it easier to stick to if you plan what you are going to do.

The only "eating plan" that has ever worked for me, and makes TOTAL sense is Dr. Abravanel's Body Type System. The concept behind it is simple -- People are different, and they are different in scientifically predictable ways. People actually have different types of metabolism, and that's what the Body Type System is all about. Check it out!

Exercise and a personal trainer to help you with food choices. If you eat organic food, you will find that it gives you more energy and it is healthier for you. Dieting does not work. You have to make lifestyle changes.

Do you know your blood type? (If you do not, you should for multiple reasons) then get a book called "Eat Right for your Blood Type" (check the library, too). Go right to the appropriate diet for your blood type and start right away. Then if you want to, go back and read why it works physiologically.
