Unfortunately, nearly every organised religion is based on ancient teachings from a time long ago. In years gone by people who were of different faiths were labeled "heathens" or "heretics" and were persecuted by the religious majority. People are basing their beliefs and feelings about other people based on things they are told by old men following ancient traditions. People should simply agree that SOMETHING had to start everything off, the level of involvement or interest that that 'something' took in the universe after its creation is something that each person must decide for themselves based on their learning and observations of the world.
Everyone should then just follow one simple rule:
Treat others as you would like to be treated.

Everything else just falls into place, we don't need preachers telling us that God is sending us to hell for not believing in him in the right way.
It seems completely illogical to me that a being that is capable of creating THE UNIVERSE would need or even want to be worshipped by anyone, let alone care HOW we went about it.

That's like asking; Would my car be a better car if I take the blanket off the windshield as a whole? It is always better to know the truth about the road when trying to drive down it and avoid real obstacles. Driving with a blanket over the windshield will lead to havoc eventually, or at least scare you so bad that you reamin sitting behind the wheel idly waiting to die. How many of us are just sitting there? What are you scared of? Can't get a clear picture of reality maybe? Hmmm
