Try the Panasonic DMR-ES-20D it will record subtitles but you need to set this up in the menu.
It was and is still is one of the Best Buys in "Which" and comes with Free view built in. I bought mine recently from Richer Sounds who had or mat still have it on special offer. look at www.richersounds.com for the site and local stores

Yipes.
If I think what you mean is what you mean I think no. There may be one now but so far they only can playback and have no recording option for subtitles.
Unless of course the subtitles are printed in the 'movie' itself but then it would not be a problem right?

i believe you can .. but you'll need the movie file and the subt file, and they both have to be compatible ...
what i know for sure is that you can also use a cd recorder to make movies in VCD format (that would be, .mpg files). Download the .avi file (DIVX), and use TMPGenc to convert it to .mpg; while converting, use vobsub or ffdshow to "stick" the subtitles in the film.
