I have a slight brain injury that occured sometime around the time I was born. (Forceps) I have found it difficult to get employment because employers won't take the time to train me in the way that want things done. It may take me a bit longer then other people to get a concept but when I get it I never forget it. Answers?

It's a money thing. The longer it takes to train a new employee, the more it costs the employer. This is not a good reason and that's why there are laws against this particular hiring proceedure. In some cases, a handicap physically prevents a person from doing the job. Meaning a paralyzed person can't be a lumberjack. but in your case I'd seriously consider calling them on it because it is a form of discrimination.

I don't know..... I guess everyone wants the easy, quick way. They must not have much empathy.

Are you saying they don't hire you in the first place, or you get hired and then let go? How do they know you have a disability anyway, do you bring it up? I would not bring it up.

Why don't you go to college for something, I don't know what your interests are, but... a skilled trade? dental hygiene?

A lot of people are uncomfortable with ppl who are different. Also at a lot of jobs time is of the essence and people dont tend to be patient. But that doesnt make it right, and legally they can't discriminate against you for it. Good luck!
