Cowboys! they were doing all that stuff on the ranches and it became a kind of competition between farms and ranches that turned into events and fairs then into rodeos from what I have been told ( I came from Farmers and ranchers)

Oh, rodeo! I love rodeo! I head that rodeo started when different ranches would get together and compete in ranching skills such as calf roping, bronc riding, etc. These competitions gathered audience and popularity and became a regular event in the community. Where I used to live the town rodeos were sponsored by public service organizations, like Lions, as a way to raise money. Lots of fun at the rodeo and the dance afterwards.
