It is something you should be able to share with your mom but, yes it is painful but it is a kind of pain that you can control by putting your mind to it. It feels worse that the monthly cramps. They can give you medication to help with the pain and give you something to make you a little out of it so that you can tolerate it better. But the good part is that once the baby is born then you just seem to forget how painful it was. Believe me after 4 kids I can say it was well worth the while.

I cannot answer for natural childbirth, as I had to have a c-section. They brought me in, gave me the epidural in my spine, which liked to have shot me through the roof if I didn't have to be perfectly still. After my legs numbed, the bottom half of me did as well. They cut me open and took the baby out. I threw up constantly from the medicine they were giving me.
Afterwards, they wisked me away to recovery, where I was so looped I didn't know what was going on. They brought me to my room after and I couldn't keep anything down, even though I was starving. Later that night, my legs began the most horrible agonizing itching I'd ever had. I had a reaction to the medication. Wheeee....it lasted all night and all the next day.
That next morning, the nurse came to take out my catheter. Owwweee. When I tried to go to the bathroom, I couldn't. I had to pee so dang bad, but nothing. For hours. They threatened to put the catheter back in, which is not any picnic either, so I tried and tried for another hour. Finally....success. And pain!
When I was released to go, my cut hurt super bad, even with the pain meds. Later on, I felt a pain on the right side of my cut like I'd never seen before. Burn, burn burn. Turns out I'd gotten a staff infection from the hospital in my c-section cut. I had to return to my OB/GYN, where she inserted a q-tip into the cut. OMG!!! BURN BURN BURN!!
Two weeks later, after that healed, it returned. I had caught it again at the doctor's visit...same place, same hurt.
After all the weird pain I went through, I'd have to say I'd do it all over again for my little bundle of joy.

ok if you are preg.then you need to tell. but if not then you don't want to know about the pain.contractions aren't that bad at first.as time passes they get stronger and closer(3min.apart)they hurt.you feel alot of pressure in your back and your but and you get to the point like you want to push.thats when you ask for drugs.you will be numb from the waist down.both of my children were 13 hrs of labor each.my sons head was so big that they had to use forceps on his head.sometimes when you push you poop on the table if you don't have a enema.some people have trouble with pain others are a breeze.

Depends on the situation. Personally, it hurt like hell, but then again, I wasn't able to have any meds to stop the pain. When you get the drugs, it blocks most of the pain, so all you feel is pressure. Honestly, though, I can't really remember what it felt like pain wise, I was just so happy my son was alright! You do tend to forget the pain afterseeing the baby...you kind of go numb

The pain is different for each birth....every woman has a different threshold for pain.
For me, I'd rather have a C-section. And for a natural birth....the worst part is after you have the baby(the pain I mean)! It hurts every time you go to the bathroom!!! Very badly!
And no, you don't forget about the pain once you hold the baby!

its not as bad as some people make it seem. when I was pregnant everyone told me that it was the worst pain in the world. I think the thing that hurt the most was the contractions. But it all depends on your body and how high your pain tolerance is. If your pregnant and scared of the pain...talk to your doctor. There are a lot of alternatives for example...EPIDURALS :) chow

Everyone's pain tolerance is different. My opinion is that everyone makes it out to be worse than it really is. I did it naturally and it was not that bad. Yes, it hurts, but it feels like really bad period cramps. The nice part is that when you are in between contractions, you have a break from the pain. It's not constint. Good luck, you'll do fine

~~imagine taking your lower lip, and pulling it up over your head to the back of your neck.... or squeezing a watermellon through your nose... don't worry they can give you drugs for the pain, and once you see that little bundle the joy is so overwhelming that the pain just don't even matter any more it hurts way less than an abortion, and at least you get to take your baby home when it's over compared to an abortion where you go through the pain and then go home with empty arms knowing you caused your own child to die~~

It's worth it ,you go through it so fast that you really can't remember the pain afterwards. I'ts an experience that you'll always remember and you won't hesitate to go for the next one. By all means don't ever have an epidural. I'ts dangerous and you'll feel sorry you didn't experience that wonderfull feeling of giving life to someone that will love you unconditionly.

The labor pains are absolutely horrible, but once the epidurral took over, I felt no pain. When I was ready to deliver, I pushed 4-7 times, and out came my daughter. It was the easiest thing!!!
