Sweetie you can't "get Ur ex" to do anything ur ex does not want to do. What U have to realize is that ur ex's want are more "important" than ur children's needs. Unfortunately, I've been dragged into a custody battle and after these past 6 yrs. nothing has changed. He still thinks he's hurting me. When in FACT he is only hurting and damaging himself by using our son and placing my son in the middle. God bless U

If you have asked him and he has said no... try it again in a letter, and tell him its for the benefit of the kids.

If that doesn't work... have the kids as him. I don't suggest using the kids as a go between really, but he might be more objective listening to them than listening to you.
