We are a rural school located in Vilonia, Arkansas serving students in 5th, 6th, and 7th grades. We are getting a new building but due to budget constraints, our library stock is looking pretty slim. I am looking for people/organizations who will donate books or make donations. Any help would be appreciated.

I've had a few people ask where to send donations/books to. The address is Vilonia Middle School -Attn. Terina Atkins, 1164 B Main Street, Vilonia Arkansas, 72173. Thank you so much for all your help. We've had a book drive and with some of your added suggestions, will try another one this fall. I will also be getting ahold of some corporations. THANKS!

You could get in contact with your nearest college or university. Often times, they have student groups like NSCS, Golden Key, future teachers, etc. that love to do stuff like collect books for rural schools. You could also check with the county library system to see if they are getting rid of any of their books. Try contacting Barnes and Nobles, Amazon.com, Scholastics, or other major book companies to see if they would be willing to donate any books.

A school in my neighborhood, also had a problem with the library in their school and wanted more books, so they sent out flyers to everyone and asked that everyone put book sthey don't need on their stoop or in front of their house doors, then they sent out some volunteers to pick up the books, I think that would be your best shot at getting free books, also I know if you call some major companies like coca cola or burger king and tell them your story they donate money for libraries sometimes depending on your case.

I used to work at a Recycling Center and we had what was called a Re-use center. It was a place where people could make donations and schools, day-cares, and non-profit organizations could come and get supplies at no cost. I would check and see if there was something like that in your area. Also maybe you could check out some yard/garage sales and get books that way. Good Luck in your quest!!

Well there are several ways you can go. ask your local Churches, Best Buy, Red Cross, Banks, Wal-mart. See if you have an Americorps* program in your town. They are a great group people who can get books donated, fund raise, volunteer etc.. Give them a shout Out.

I think your best bet would be to send flyers to all homes in your area for "unwanted book roundup day" or something, then send volunteers out on that day, door to door (with cars of course) and collect donated books from people.

I see no logical clarification why they ought to not be, till someone is at present borrowing them or the library does not yet own a replica. inspite of the actuality that, i visit't in my opinion verify each and each and every college library.

I would contact Barnes and Noble's corporate office in NYC. They are always looking for charities to help out in literacy, and as I always say...it never hurts to ask. :) Good luck!!
