1) Time flies when you're having fun... most people have fun during the summer.
2) It seems short because we're too afraid to face the wrath of teachers and homework again. =)

summers are the same time as all seasons
it depends on where you live if they are actually shortened or not. When I lived in Florida you only experienced 3 seasons. There is no "winter" and the summer is extended.
Plus most of us do things in the summer so the busier you are the faster time passes.

They're only three months where I live, and then we have at least 6 months of winter. They're short, but not as short as fall and spring.

Summer is the best but the busiest time of year with summer jobs, classes, parties, vacations, and camps all at once...

Because we wait all year for them.
Because we enjoy it so much that we seem to lose track of time and don't have to worry about school or work (because most of us take our vacations from work in the Summer.

Your thawing out and your nature takes a while to get in full swing, by that time it's fall again and the Bacchus in all has to be mothballed again. Or some such thing.
