Please consider community service. While the children are in school, volunteer at the library, hospital, or blood bank. If you volunteer at their school, you'll be close to them. Register the kids for youth soccer and get involved in the soccer association. All this is very rewarding.

When your hubby goes abroad ask a friend or family member to mind the kids for a day or arrange for them to go to friends houses. Make sure you have a day off work and then treat yourself and if you want to do something expensive save up for a week or two then just splash out on what ever you like for example a day at the spa or renew your whole wardrobe.
And the one thing you do not do is think about anything stressful for the whole day because it's your day no-one Else's, so save up and enjoy o.k.
this is also a great thing to do if you are stressed

I work abroad and my kids are far away. I would do anything to have them with me even if it would mean getting bored!

play with your kids hug them kiss them take them to places they can play. and don't screw around even if you think he is because the only ones really screwed will be the little angels you have.
