I heard a parable about heaven and hell once. It went something like this. A man was taken to hell and saw a long table piled with all kinds of delicious food on it. The problem was that everyone sitting at the table had splints tied to their arms so that they could not bend them. They could see the food and smell the food and pick up the food with their hands but could not put it in their mouths.
After absorbing the scene, he was taken to heaven. There, he saw the same exact scene. Everyone was sitting at a long table with splints tied to their arms so they couldn't put the food in their own mouths. However, there was one difference. The people in heaven would pick up some food, and reach across the table and feed the person across from them. In this way, everyone was enjoying the meal and was very happy.

Heaven and Hell are Christian words. So a Christian response would be: Heaven is being in eternal relationship with God. While Hell is being eternally separated from God. (This is why some people can say they've experienced Hell, or Heaven, on earth)

Well... Hell is described as a fiery furnace with gnashing of teeth and weeping... then Heaven would be described as a place with streets of Gold... seem a little different....
