no no no my friend....one of the 3 father's name was Yisroel, who in a way is the "father" of the Jewish nation, who were named after him-the nation of Yisrael, in English, Israel. Their language was later known as Hebrew, which is what was used in the new testament when it was written.

Well Abraham was considered a Hebrew not from Eber's name, but from the root word "ever" meaning 'over' -- he crossed over the river to mose to a new land and start a new faith, and he crossed over to monotheism.

I know the term is used in Gen 14:3 but I'm not sure off the top of my head if it used earlier.
