Since your sexual preference is what makes you homosexual and you don't have a sexual preference until you reach the age of reason how can anyone say they are born that way? I think like every other condition or state a human being can find themselves in...It is a choice.
Maybe...and that is a big MAYBE it can be somewhat conditioned and brought about by a genetic predisposition toward it but even if you are born with six fingers on one hand...it is still a CHOICE you make to leave it there or remove it. (Anyone ever see the movie Farewell my Concubine?) That, is why I made that reference... Seeing that film brought the problem with this question into focus for me. All of the elements and underlying examples made it make more sense for me.
Behavior is conditioned and learned and Everything is a choice like the people who say alcoholisim is a disease. Yeah maybe it is, but it is still a choice to participate in the act of drinking which is what makes you an alcoholic.
I have friends who are Gay and Bisexual and they say that sexual preference has little to do with it. Personally I don't agree. But we all know what opinions are like right?
But to answer your original question... I believe it has very little to do with anything other than what you do, (for all of the above mentoned reasons) or as the person up top cleverly said... "It's who you do!." That was histerical!

It's what you do, which becomes who you are. Whether someone has homosexual tendencies as a result of genetics, sexual abuse, or any other reason, it should be resisted. I think of homosexuality like addictions. No matter how the problem got into our system, it's wrong, and we need lots of help to fight what God says is wrong. Prayer and Bible study, along with turning your life over to God is a step in the right direction.

It can be both I guess; I'm not so arrogant as t say that out of all the homosexual couples, there aren't any who aren't actually in love. But, I know it isn't the love that God wants us to have; it's against His example, and He said that He will never give us a temptation too strong for us to deny, so it ends up being a choice.

I think it's what you do. I don't think it's who you are. I mean, you do it and you believe that's what you are. You are so much more than that, though. You have a life outside of being homosexual.

I feel that its who you are. You can't help who you love, and thats what its about. Gay or straight. I mean, I can't MAKE you love someone that you don't, right? So I don't understand why there is such a big controversy over gay marriage. The best argument I have heard to NOT let gays marry is that "People get married to have children, and gays can't unless they adopt, so they shouldn't get married". Well then why can't state gavoernments agree to let them have a type of "Union" and not call it marriage? Plus does that make it wrong for couples, who can have children but chose not to, to get married and adopt? Sorry I'm rambling. But my answer is that it is who you are.

Homosexuality is who you are. There is no such thing as gay sex. We don't have any special or different organs than homosexuals. You don't have to have sex to be gay. There are many people who are gay or lesbian, teens etc... who haven't had sex yet.
The funniest (ignorant) thing. When I didn't have a partner my coworker said, "So you're not gay at the moment"?

I think it is a lil bit of both. Obviously it is what you do if you are doing it and as far as who we are of coarse it is who we are. Gay is gay. It does not define ALL of who we are but it is a part of who we are. Everything we do and every way we act is a part of who we are. Sinful or not!!!! If it is sinful it is not for me to judge nor should it be anyone elses place to do so. ((Those who think it is sinful in gods eyes let god do the judging in the end for you are not god and have no right to do so.)) I believe the saying goes "Judge not lest ye be judged"

In my case, I would have to say neither. But I guess that's not what you are asking. Nature or nurture or personal choice, that is the question. Whoever figures it out will either become a billionaire, revered by millions or will be stoned to death in the town square.

Interesting.....
How about this:
It's neither, cause it's none of your business!!
It's funny to me, because for my homosexual friends,
the only thing different about them and me is who we
want to go to bed with. We drink, shoot pool, ride motorcycles,
the help me buy clothes (hahahahaa), etc....
But, when we're standing in the mall people watching,
the look at guys with nice packages and look at girls
with round bottoms.
It's the same to me as my straight friends that like skinny girls.
I don't get it, but "HEY" that's their bag.
Cheers

You can still be homosexual and never have sex with a guy or girl (depending on gender) it is what you feel, how you are attracted to someone, not just wanting their body. You feel love, and sadness, its not just lust. So its who you are, not just your actions.
