Do couples really follow the three month rule?

I've been dating this guy for almost 3 months now( in fact we're a week away from three months.) We really don't talk alot about sex. Is it too soon to tell him I'm ready, I mean I don't want to sound like it's been months for me(and it has) is it too soon? He's been a real gentleman and he's never rushed me. He's always been respectful, I've met the parents and he's met mine . He might see me as WIFE material. I don't want to scare him away and have him think I'm some type of freak.
I'm well of age- 22 and he's 25

I have never followed the whole dating rules thing. I had sex with a girl after only a month, but then it all came crashing down later. You should do what comes naturally, but its always good to build a good mental relationship before you start a physical one.

3 months is too early! If he loves and respects you he will put a wedding ring on your finger before you have sex! Sex is made for the marriage bed only! If he sees you as wife material than he can wait until your wedding night.

It's completely up to you. If you feel you are ready, then you two need to talk. I was different. One relationship, I waited three months. Another relationship took 3 days..
