Everyone in America has the opportunity to get out of poverty if they so choose. That is what the system is built for. There are social workers, food stamps, medicaid, public housing. It sucks and it's a pain in the *** to get help, but it's possible. Say a single mother of four wants to better herself here in America, she can get childcare assistance so that she can work and go to school. She may never be rich but she and her children won't starve to death either. It takes work, hell for some people squeezing the system is their full time job! People in developing nations, or third world countries, whichever you choose to call it do not have these resources and without the basic necessities, food, water shelter and medicine, they would die. So we are helping them because we are for the most part caring people who are trying to ease suffering everywhere.
