www.download.com to search, or www.avast.com which is free and fast --I would suggest you buy Norton AntiVirus to keep the protection going for your computer. I have it, and it's stopped hundreds of attempts of virus infections and spyware. We all have our favorites, but for fast and free, I recommend the first two.

I'm sorry to say that you will have to buy anti spyware. I can personally recommend Win Antispyware but there are a few around. They seem to cost around the $50 mark....some more some less. However since I have just disinfected my laptop I will also advise that you should invest in good anti virus software such as Norton Anti Virus if it was not already supplied when you purchased your computer. So let me tell you what I had to do to disinfect my laptop (it was not easy and took some time):
1. My antivirus software advised me of the infection but was unable to delete it.
2. So I purchased Win Anti Spyware software which was one of several Microsoft endorsed.
3. I downloaded Yahoo Toolbar with its own anti spyware software included (this was free!!).
4. Lastly I downloaded a Firewall from Zone Alarm website which was free also.

My laptop is about as protected at the moment as I can protect it despite repeated attempts to reinfect it. My safeguards above give me warnings. I hope the above helps you. I'm sorry I cannot advise you of any totally free solution. You sometimes just have to think of it as an investment in your healthy pc. Good luck. I hope my experience helps.

Spybot is the best, you can downloaded for free, well maybe for a couple of days, then you have to pay. But if a friend has the software, ask him to downloaded in your PC. That's what I did.
My PC is free... I mean from virus and spyware

go to www.download.com and download a free anti virus program, scan your computer with the product you downloaded and delete any viruses,
