A little bit of being told and seeing the evidence of logic / faith / and the leading of the Holy Spirit.
..but if you don't follow the Christian crowd, - then you'll have to follow the mass media / popular culture.
Ouch.. that's a little too low brow for me.

I think with any religion or spiritual practice, you should question what you are being told to believe. Everyone needs to find their OWN truth, and if you feel that your personal beliefs fit within their doctirine, then you've made a good choice, and you can feel comfortable within yourself for making that choice. Don't believe everything that you read, as I believe this is dangerous. If you read that Jesus (for example, not intending to offend anyone) asked you to go jump off a bridge as a test of your faith, would you do it, just because you were told to? I think not! Question, seek and you shall grow!

Yes. None of us ever think for ourselves. We are all brainwashed sheep who grew up with Christianity and refuse to believe anything else.
Come on, man. Do you honestly think that's how we all are? Christians are a rather diverse group of people, with the annoying ones getting the most attention. Hopefully that's EXACTLY how atheists are. How can you possibly expect anyone to take you seriously when you're such a fan of a MOVIE that you dedicate your Yahooness to its cause? I don't mean that as an insult. I'm seriously asking. :P

I don't know where you get that. Atheists tell us not to believe and you act as if we must believe what you believe of else we are not free thinkers. Thats just a wee bit redundant and stupid.
It seems to me that by your standards only a free thinker will think as atheists. Anything that conflicts with YOUR views constitutes a challenge to free thought and must not be allowed to take place.
Anything that conflicts with the atheist or secular thought must be restricted and controlled or else such people should be placed in mental facilities because of their non conformance surely has to be mental illness.
THATS FREE THINKING? Thats Freedom to exercise your opinion and freedom of speech? I'm sorry but I fail to see how this varies from what you accuse us of.
Think about it.

Yep. They do. "I know Jesus loves me, though, because the Bible told me so!" <~~ I remember that from when I was Christian. =_=
so is that like saying its okay for people to sue bands because they have suggestive lyrics its a song for pity's sake. anyways I have just became a christian and I know nothing about that particular religion. I knew what I believed in already and found a religion that went along with my thoughts

I was raised christian to the point where now I'm out on my own (22 years old) and I don't go to church, I recognize a lot of inconsistencies in the bible, but at the same time I would hate to be wrong about eternity ;-)

"We did not follow cleverly invented stories when we told you about the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. For he received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased." 2 Peter 1:15-17
Christians don't believe in something just because they have been told to believe. Christians have put faith in Jesus Christ who is alive today and living in the hearts of all who believe in His death, burial and resurrection. There may be some who only believe what they have been told, but true faith is a real encounter with God in the person of Jesus Christ. All mankind is born into this world spiritually dead to God, but alive to the world. The only provision to counter our condition is the life of God made available in the resurrected life of Jesus Christ. Christian faith is rooted in the historically verified and accurate claims of the Bible and Jesus Christ. He is the only way to the Father in Heaven. Jesus is the only person throughout history that had a life to give to all of us. Buddha can't give you life, Muhammed can't give you life, the Pope can't give you life; nobody can.
"Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?"" John 11:25-26
Well, do you believe?

Can't speak for all Christians.
Questioning what you are taught it healthy. I find that when I have questions, it helps me grow in my faith. It brings a deeper understanding of why we believe what we believe and why we do what we do.

Speaking for myself, I believe what I do because I have studied the bible for a decade, and through that study, through thought and prayer and seeing His word proven day after day....have come to believe it is the absolute truth.
I think many people misunderstand belief. It isn't blind. Mine is a very reasoned belief. God said "come, let us reason together". If the bible is really God's word, it will stand up to any scrutiny. And it has, in my life. And given me joy and assurance and absolute trust in all He has said.
