Instead of having mom and dad show him how the toilet works try having a relative ie- grandpa, uncle, show him how it works. We tried this with my nephew. He wouldn't have anything to do with using the toilet until his uncle Steve (that's me) showed him how to use it. Took one day!

Throw a ball as big as his head into the toilet bowl. Then let him watch you flush the toilet over and over....and keep telling him that something as big as a ball will not go down the drain. Ask him to flush the toilet....then let Elmo or his favorite soft toy sit on his toilet seat or his potty.....while listening to music...and pretend Elmo is so happy...talk like Elmo....hug Elmo- be proud of Elmo...hopefully he eventually wants to be lavishly rewarded like that, too. Did he watch the boys potty training DVD, yet? (>>>Library- it's for free at our library) He can watch that while you have Elmo sit on his potty watching the potty training DVD. Good luck.

Continue to praise and encourage him. Model for him, read him stories about potty training and make him understand that big boys use a potty. It is scary for young children, in their little heads they think that they will be suck away once you flush. It will take time but he will do it. Good luck!

He needs to be going with you and your husband when you go, and after you are done clap, say yea, make a big deal and make it fun. Children follow by example. Try putting some cherios in the toilet and tell him to try to ring them.
