He probably went to a private boys' school for up to four years and caused trouble by sticking his sword pointy-end up on the teacher's seat every so often. The other boys made fun of him for wearing eyeliner and girlie earrings, so he kissed all their girlfriends behind their backs and sneaked out the back door to hide in the trees while the other boys searched in vain with the aim of throttling him. When night came, Jack sneaked back into the school and read all the teacher's exam papers before they were handed out, so he could stupefy the teacher and the other students the next day by passing with flying colors.

Capt. Jack Sparrow was schooled before the modern era of public schools, making "home schooling" equally irrelevant because it only exists in terms of there being a public school system. That said, Capt. Jack Sparrow probably went to OLD SCHOOL, which explains his terrific taste in women's clothing, given that he keeps "no dress" in his cabin.
