I accidently spilt some liquid on the floor earlier on, and i went to get something to clear it up, when i heard a scream. I went back to where i had the accident, and there was my wife, she was barefoot, and her foot was bleeding because she had stepped in the liquid!
What was the liquid?

I reckon you dropped some glass. I'm sure I remember reading somewhere that glass is technically a liquid.

If the answer is blood then the question should have ended "...and her foot was covered in blood..." but you say she is bleeding so its not blood.
If the answer is meant to be glass then it is also wrong because although people are sometimes told that galss is a liquid....strictly speaking glass is neither a solid or a liquid...it is a non-newtoniain fluid or phase iv fluid, i cant exactly remember which, but its not a liquid.
the liquid isnt her own blood because you said she "...was bleeding because she stepped in the liquid..."
lastly ice is solid water and not a liquid.
Did she step in liquid nitrogen and adhere to it and when she moved some of her skin was torn off and so she bled?

The liquid was water. It had just been frozen and your "wife" had stepped on the ice shards.

I believe you were shooting for glass as the answer but your terminology is wrong, glass is a fluid not a liquid.
