If anybody really realized they're being brainwashed, the brainwashing would collapse. I wish people wopuld learn to THINK, and investigate all options before making a commitment to whatever it is they've had foisted on them as children.

I know it. It is a choice I made when I decided to be a Christian. The choice between going my own way and fouling up my life making my own mistakes or trusting God and his wisdom and living according to his instructions.
"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."
- Romans 12:2
That is otherwise known as "brainwashing" - literally - like I choose to remove filth from my mind such as pornography, hatred, jealousy, greed, and malicious thoughts. God replaces these things with peace, patience, kindness, mercy, and self sacrifice.
I know I had to give up ruling and running my own life and I did so gladly, because Jesus is the way the truth and the life. I admit I am being brainwashed, and I am happy for it. That doesn't mean I can't think for myself, but that I submit to God's guidance in my life.

Um well,,It's really not brain washing,,Christians have been told to believe in that stuff since they were little kids! So do you seriously think they are going to change their minds and listen to a complete stranger on Yahoo Answers? And i am sure you are going to get rude answers because some of them are realizing they're living a huge lie,,So please stop criticizing other peoples religion and beliefs chances are your own unpopularity,,Have a nice day!

Christianity is a matter of faith. It took time to build mine. I was cynical and thought that I did not really need it.
But I began going to church, was amazed by the wonderful people, and my heart began to change. I began to agree with the teachings of the Bible in so many ways: about how to treat others, about unconditional love, about what is and is not harmful to us, about the stories of people who lived in faith and trusted God and made a difference.
There are many Christians who want to debate - it is a poor way to show God's love, or to have them be lead to the truth. The leading cause of atheism today is Christians! Because non-believers see them say or profess one thing and do another, or be argumentative and appear close minded. Christians are people too and not perfect.
The love and truth of God is, indeed, very real. Everything falls into place when your heart turns to God - he brings His Sprit to guide and bless you with assurance and unfailing promises and love. It is not only an abundant life now, but the promise of eternal life in Jesus Christ.
You are loved by God, but we are all separated from him because he is a perfect God and we are sinful. It is a hard and difficult truth. The door to Him and to a changed life is through faith and belief in Him. Jesus said "No one comes to the Father except through Me." He told us that. We cannot make God into what we want Him to be, and convolute truth.
Through love and faith we can come to HIm, and it is the answer to the meaning of our lives.
Have your read "The Purpose Driven Life" by Rick Warren? Or the Gospel of John or the Book of Romans?
There is no "brainwashing", but a revealing of God to us. The most real life of all.

Lots and lots. I think "Christian" is a questionable word these days. Jesus was a great teacher and his actions should be emulated by those who follow his beliefs. That means stopping the talk and walking the walk.

People think they need a middle man to understand and reach god. In steps preachers (salesmen) from EVERY belief structure.
As long as we allow it...it will be.
