I believe that some things are fated, and that there is nothing we can do to change the eventual outcome; however I also believe that we have a choice - Free Will if you want - in how we get to these outcomes (good OR bad) and in how we react to them.

I believe God has his hand in everything that happens. If you are like John Calvin (founder of Calvinism and influence on Presbyterian church) you believe a person's life is predestined. The obvious question/argument is if God has predestined our lives why is there such an emphasis on free will. However, I believe God knows a person's heart and knows what they will decide, but it is that person's choice according to their soul/conscience/heart. Hope this helps. God Bless.

OK.
My Company Commander has just finished telling me that the patrol I was going to lead would either do well, or not. "You're either going to survive, or get killed. There's nothing you can do about it."

So I said: "Sir, then is it OK if instead of wearing camouflage, we wear white shirts and bright civvies? I mean, what difference can it make if it's fated. I'll either die, or not, and there's nothing I can do about it right?"

He turned down my request. When it comes right down to it, we all try to stack the odds in our favor - fate, shmate.

yes. everything that happens is connected to a billion other occurrences. The universe wouldn't survive if there were a gazillion accidents/day. Things happen for a reason.

I don't believe in fate as much as I do in consequences.

It should be expected that there are consequences that must be endured depending upon which path you took in life.

If you drink, you'll get drunk.
If you get drunk you'll wake up with a hangover.
Action Consequence.

Like they said in The Godfather.
I believe destiny chooses us.
If you become crackhead, then that was your desity to become a crackhead.
If you choose to try hard and be successful, that was your destiny to choose to try hard and be successful.
