Metric stud set. If you get a metric equivalent tape, you will find that those Black diamonds line up every half-meter.

Thats where ur studs are spaced, Like I said it is for stud finding I don't care if that guy has 100 years in the trade he don't know what he is talking about OTHER MEASUREMENTS You might have noticed that every 24" on the tape measure are marked with a contrasting black background and every 16" is marked with a red background. The marks are used by construction workers for spacing wood studs in a wall or joists in a floor/roof. 16" spacing is used most commonly for load bearing walls and 24" for non-load bearing walls. The small black diamonds represent a less common spacing scheme.

No real offense meant but there is nothing related to "ROUGHLY" about a tape measure,,,as opposed to using the first knuckle of your thumb to measure inches.
19 isn't a stud measurement in the USA, but then I'm not a ROUGH carpenter either. I hate stabbing at walls just to find STUDS centered at 16 or 24
