Try and get him into a 12-step program. Preferably La Hacienda (but its really expensive if you don't have insurance.. 24,000 a month) If he can't afford that he should look into Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anony or Marij Anon or any of these types of programs which are offered in nearly every town in the US and its Free. It is the best way to get sober and stay sober.
He will develope a strong support group, make new friends and have others that are going through the same problems and know how to help. Addiction is a terminal disease if not treated! The sooner the better.
Very educational for all, they even have Al-anon for non users that want to understand the disease better.

if his parents don't know tell his parents and then let his parents deal with the problem but if his parents do know then you can start helping him with a variate of stuff like a school counselor or maybe tell him your feeling of how the drug problem will interfere with your deeply true friendship or something like that.......thanks

Talk to an adult about this it could be your parents or his. Just let him know you're there for him and help him stop. It could be tough, be strong.

Tell his folks! You've GOT to tell his parents it may be that last thing that he want anyone to do but they have to know....
And get him a drink of water and some nyquil if you can.
