E-tickets are great. Very convenient. You can book a ticket online, print your confirmation number and flight details and present it to the airline counter to receive your boarding pass (bring a photo ID, and passport if you're going overseas).

Plus, in the US, most airlines charge to print "hard" tickets because they prefer their customer to use e-tickets.

The benefit to e-tickets is that you dont have to actually have a physical ticket in your hand. A paper ticket is like money in hand, if you lose it your screwed. They can not replace them and if you lose them, its very hard to replace and costs extra to reprint the tickets, usually a minimum of $100 depending on the airline and desitination. Some international cities are still paper tickets only, but most of the world has gone paperless, which is so much easier.

Service quality should have nothing to do with whether or not you are e-ticketed or not. It's easier for e-tickets because they are not accountable. If you lose an agent misplaces a paper ticket, its like losing the money. That is how they get paid.

I like it a lot. Also went on a trip 2 weeks ago and Orbitz kept calling us on our mobile phone to tell us about our departures.
