Its ridiculous to criticize someone who is trying to help make the world a better place. For some reason, people like to target these "hollyood types" for doing this while they themselves remain inactive. Ignorance is "in" these days, apparently. Just look at some of the previous answers.
Clearly, Jolie and Bono are in touch with causes. Don't know enough about Sarandon or Robbins, though.

Susan's been involved since the 1960s, and I imagine Tim joined her at a later date. I'm not sure about Jolie or Bono, but I'm pretty sure they do care as well.

I believe they are doing it mainly for themselves, or for self-promotion. Celebrities are waited on hand and foot, have more money than they'll ever be able to spend, and are worshipped like gods by the masses. They are about as far out of touch with reality as you can possibly get.
If they really wanted to save the world and end world poverty, they'd sacrifice their multiple mansions and private jets. I don't see any of them doing that. The ironic thing is, they're asking all of us for money.

I know that Tim and Susan live in downtown Brooklyn and often take car service to get to their destinations. So, if they had a mercedes, why aren't they driving it?

First, who cares what these morons say? They're fools. Most do not have much education. They just use their fame to brainwash a captive audience (you, apparently).
They don't do things to feel good--they feel good already. They do it to make more money by increasing their fame-base. Also, they don't want JUST money $$, they want power (political power). which they can acquire through brainwashing the ignorant masses.

Everyone wants to help in their own way.
The causes are unfixable and patch work is all that can be done, unless the entire world unites in one effort to actually fix it, but I don;t see that happening for a while. We have to learn to get along first.
