if you are asking religious people which religion brings them closest to god ... you're gonna get a response from every religion claiming theirs does .. i don't see the point in this question sorry ( not meaning to be rude ) but why would anyone claim otherwise
i am a spiritual rather than religious person ... and i feel so close to god .. so even religion doesn't have anything to do with how close you can get .. its a personal matter because even the most devout practising person may not be spiritually close to god due to the blindness of following the rules and regs that go with that religion ( no pointing fingers at all here )
being close to god isn't about religion ... its about having that space in your heart for someone else .. its about striving each day to bring good to your fellow man ... its about having quite time each day in thought and reflection .... its about more than just religion

Every religion in my opinion tries to bring one closest to GOD. WHY?????? Becoze every religious priest, in real sense, has gone through all the evils of the world and placed a religion before the people

That is between you and God. I looked at almost every religion!!I was so picky as to what church I should join and I came to the conclusion that the religion I should join would be as close to the church that Christ had on the earth when he was here..you know apostles, prophets, revelation, organization and a core of priciples, and not a counsel deciding what God was (the nycien counsel (not sure how that is spelled)). It would have to be simple and not one that conforms to society but rather stands alone in the dark. I looked high and low and then one day two men came to my door to share a message with me about Jesus. As I listened to them I felt something I had not felt before. It was a peace that was so calming and so earth shattering that I cried and cried. They came back several times to teach me. They taught me that Christ lives and that he is the savior. They also taught me that God has not left us alone on this earth. He has provided a Prophet and Apostles just like he did when Christ was on the earth. They believe not just in the revelation in the bible but in modern day revelation! It was amazing at how true it felt. I thought long and hard about my decision to join this church. My family was against it and told me that they would disown me. MY family is so important to me. I told them that I would always love them but I knew in my heart that if I wanted to be closer to God and Jesus Christ I needed to be a part of this Church. They are family oriented and they believe that families can be together forever nto just until death. I was baptized into "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints" (Mormons) I have never been happier. I am married now and have a beautiful daughter. My parents did not disown me in the end. It took them a while to accept it but now we are even closer than we were before. I have found the Complete Gospel.

No religion will bring you closer to GOD. Only a personal walk with Him - daily seeking him and prayer and Bible study so you can know what it is HE wants for you.
Religion is just the foundation that helps you along your journey. It keeps you with like minded people that you can encourage and be encouraged by. Religion gives you your basic fundamentals to build your realtionship on.

Christianity...Baptists because the right way to pracitce Christianity is not about a competition between the churches or who's got the most people sitting in the pews on a Sunday morning. Christianity is a relationship between you and God.

No religion will bring one closer to God but Jesus.Jesus did not bring religion to earth but salvation. He said the kingdom of God is at hand so Jesus brought God's kingdom to us ,everyone ,sinners; this inculdes moslem, jews, christains, pagans and so on.He said; To all !Because sin took us away from God and Jesus brought us back by laying down His life without sin for us to be made free and cleaned from sin.
Sin brought death and it is only the blood of a lamb without spots that can take away this sin(death)and Jesus is that lamb. For God said no amount can be given for the life of a person,it is too costly but only death can be given.Read proverbs.
So ;Adam-Sin-Death
Jesus-mercy-salvation.
So as Jesus died He took away death and forgave us and brought us back to God and that is why it is written; No other name has been given to man but the name of Jesus Christ to bring mankind back to God because He bought us with His life.
There is this joke which says Jesus took light into the dark places of death(because when one dies he is alone,he knows nothing and it is dark). And Jesus is light so even the dead will see the light or salvation after judgement.
Jesus is the way, truth and life.Follow Him please and not religion.

Religion? Which religion brings you closer to God?.. The pharisis were religious and Jesus said they were nothing but white washed tombs filled with dead mans bones. I don't believe religion brings you closer to God, only a personal relationship brings you closer.

I was born and brought up as a protestant christian, but always had reservations about certain aspects of this faith both in content and practise.
Some time ago I discovered Islam which and since that time I know that I am so close to God and my lifestyle has improved immensely
