By watering it down, and saying it's not meant to be taken literally. That's the really infuriating thing to me. That's what the moderate Christians do. Hell, at least the fundamentalists are honest about their beliefs. They just flat out deny science. But to try to incorporate it, well, that's just being silly.

Your question is founded in mis-direction, since science has not proven that the Bible is lying. First of all, it would be interesting to debate your premise and get to the root of your question which is really that you can't understand how anyone can believe in what the Bible has to say. If this is true for you, great, however there are many millions of people in the world who would beg to differ with you. Does that make you wrong and them right? No. There are many things in the Bible that science COULD prove to be false...but I don't think it has actualy BEEN proven. In fact, there is much in the Bible that has been validated by scientific inquiry. Does that mean you need to change your mind? No, only that you might want to examine why you are so angry about this issue...which is how I'm viewing your question.

It depends on how you look at the Bible. I believe the Bible was written to answer questions that were going on during that time period. Why do women have pain during childbirth? That's because of Adam and Eve taking and eating the forbidden fruit. The authors at the time needed to have something that people could relate to. There are two versions of Creation. Genesis Chapter I and 2 both tell how the world came to be. There are slight differences. Now if you took the Bible word for word. Then you would be In a quandary. Which story to believe? I am someone that will read the Bible and then interpret it to how it applies to my life and what it means to me. I am sure you have heard of the woman that was reading the Bible and she found something that she disagreed with and she tore out the page. When she was finished reading the whole Bible was torn out. You are able to believe in the Bible and in science too. You just need a little FAITH!

what?? Science has proven what exactly? That we came from where? Chaos? In fact the more that scientist look into the universe they have found that there is no way that the earth could have been created out of nothing and could not have come to be by a big bang...when have you ever thrown 2 things together and they have magically created something that is in total order...It is like baking bread...I could throw everything together but without me it would not be mixed together or baked...Sorry pal but science has proved itself wrong way to many times (global warming...cooling 30 years ago) for me to believe that they have proved that the bible is completely false. Besides that why do you care if I have faith in God? How does it affect you if I read my scriptures? In fact I think that if you want to see the bible be proved wrong you will and I won't...

Then you are ignoring the facts of places being found that are mentioned in the Bible. Medically the diagnoses of the diseases that the priests had to check has been proven true.
Don't want to believe these things, then how about a professor of law who started the science and workings of what modern day lawyers use when going to court. He proved that based on just the evidence of what we have, the evidence supports the Biblical account.

Science hasn't proven that it's lies. But since I take the Bible as ultimate truth, I don't really worry about faulty science. I am interested in science. I love to see how God's creation works. But I certainly don't try to use it to prove or disprove God's book.
Check out The Bible as History.

I study many things every day and I have never seen the Bible disproven by science. If anything science has proved that there was a flood in Noah's day that came over the whole earth. That all humans can be traced down to a single human pair, etc.
But then how can you believe science when it keeps going back and forth? We thought the earth was flat for a long time. Then scientists took it back. "oh, wait. It IS round!"

Not that I believe everything the bible says, but because faith is built into the human system. People want something to believe in, and if someone would rather believe in a deity than a scientist, they will. Humans make mistakes, Gods don't.
I personally believe in a higher being because I was raised to, but I'm starting to think I'm agnostic. Science can't prove the existence or non-existence of a God.

How has science proved anything wrong? If we came from apes for example, where did the ape come from, and what was the origin of that? More like it just opened more questions.
It's about faith. I believe that we are God's children. Now think of children in the literal sense of the word. When you are a child your father won't explain to you in detail the economics of why you can't have really expensive toys all the time. Or tell you that you can't eat junk food everyday with an explanation of nutrients, calories, carbs etc. He know these things our little minds cannot process yet. Compared to God's all knowing power we are proverbial children. I just have faith that all these questions will be answered in time.

Science may have proven errors in factuality, but the Bible is not meant as a historical record or a scientific text. It is was written to provide us with moral and spiritual guidance, opening the way to discovering its religious truths. What has science discounted about that?

Actually, thats a false statement. Everything that has been found on digs and what not, have been proven correct in the Bible. If you don't want to face reality thats fine, but your opinion is that of an ingnorant person, do more research, not opinion forming, before you ask such a silly question.
