I want to see what my friend is currently writing in messenger before he enters and posts it. Sometimes people delete what they write. It is good to know what their thoughts are before they delete.

Most IM programs won't let you preview what someone is writing, just let you know that they are in the act of writing. You only get to see the finished product.
