Yes of course - if fresh enough.

Poultry bones are not recommended because they could get stuck, others are OK.

They can be a choking hazard, obviously, and can have bad bacteria. They can also be good for their teeth and raw food does have it's benefits. If you ever try it, make sure the bone came from a reliable, clean, source, and treat it like you would any raw meat (keep it refrigerated, wash your hands after handling, throw it away after a half hour or so) I would just go with the sterilized beef bones from the store- much safer.

I give my Labrador beef bones. The round soup bones that you buy in a grocery store. I do boil them for a short period first, and have not had a problem yet. The vet said that there is a chance of getting bone splinters in his digestive tract, but have done this for my 3 year old and previous dogs and have bever had a problem. He loves them, and they keep him busy for quite a while!

My vet told me that beef and pork bones, in small quantities are OK for dogs. However, under no circumstances should you give a dog any kind of poultry bone. They splinter and can puncture your dog's stomach and/or intestines. The only kind of bones I give my dog are pork rib bones, just to be safe. I was told those are the best to give them.

its ok.. but keep in mind that taking a dog off regulated kibble can cause obesity. My ex bf's friend's weimareiner ate raw beef bones alot because the owner's said she didn't want to eat her kibble, and she was huge and unhealthy.

As long as you keep that in mind though and keep her diet regulated you shouldn't have a problem. And let your vet know about it, they should be able to let you know of any other health concerns or diet changes you should think about.

There are many people out there who feed their animals a raw diet and they thrive on it. If you think about it - a wolf is a wild dog - they don't cook their food - cats either. Do a google on the BARF (Bones and Raw Food) diet for dogs.

In my opinion NO, because bones do not completely break down in the intestines and can and have caused blockages. I have asst. in several surgery's to remove the pieces of bone that did not break down in dogs. It is costly and dangerous.

Beef bones are acceptable, but as always, supervise the dog when he/she has one, just in case.

I know people that do but since I don't know what hormones or other vaccines the cow has been given I generally boil mine first, cool them off and then pass them out :)
