When I was at the zoo this past weekend looking at orangotangs I thought, going back 8 million years there was a species that branched off and became oranotangs, and one that branched off and became humans,
and that going back maybe 9 or 10 million years the orangotang i was looking at had a real great ape ancestor that genetically I am linked to,
this for me as an atheist evolutionist is an actulization, and i would think a religious expirience,
but this only makes sense when compared with the other animals, that I am closer to the orangotang then a gibbon, and closer with the primates then the other mammals,
i say religious expirience in the not feeling God way but in understanding my place in evolution

My favorite thing at the zoo is the primate house, but I always feel guilty looking at the apes. Like I'm watching prisoners for entertainment. But, what do I know? I get the same feeling about Jessica Simpson, like there's something almost human in there, and I shouldn't watch them for entertainment.

Denial... to acknowledge that would be like saying God doesn't exist. They hate the idea of saying that... especially bible thumpers.
I agree with you though... I do think there is a relation between humans and apes.

people argues since we were created by intelligent design that we have similar dna coding and appearence... However their is like 4 billion genes in the human species and 99 percent of them are similar to apes. however that means 20 million genes are not linked to apes so that is quite alot in that sense

Well, it certainly is true that many evolutionists refer to disbelievers as morons when those disbelievers disagree. Attacking personalities however neither proves nor disproves a theory.

They may be blinded by a dogma that does not allow free thinking examination of scientific facts. Or, they may have never been exposed to the facts. Sad isn't it?

I respect your belief's and agree, there are alot of "similarity's" in all of that, but I don't call it a "relation", only similar.
