It is the admirable ones that stand out in history. Even if thier names are not always recognized or seen in lights. The army is a wonderful but difficult place to be. Being ready to stand strong for your country is quite admirable indeed. And don't listen to the stupid people on here spouting about killing. It was those of the past who chose to take a stand that gave her the freedom to rant even if it is garbage that comes out!!!!

You can definitely join the Army. There's plenty fo physical jobs available. Most involve going to play in the sand-box while carrying a rifle. :) Go talk to your local recruiter. They'll ask you some questions- but be honest- even if they lie to you! If you're disqualified from service- realize it's probably better that way. If you make it in, congrats, and thank you in advance for being willing to put it all on the line to serve your country.

Basic will probably suck for you- but that's not what it's always like, so just realize it's a game. If you've got a degree, try to go in as an officer. The work isn't always as physical- though it can be with the right job. You'll get treated a bit better... but in either case if you stay with it, you'll get some of the best benefits around- and friends for life.

YES! My friends daughter joined and she's 30. When I was in, the cut-of age was 38. As to joining the Army being a good idea. I think so.
Let me tell you a short history. I got kicked out of high school for being a hippy and questioning authority and promply got in trouble because I got bored. I was 17 and my parents had to sign papers so I could become a soldier. It was a completely different experience. I'd do it again but I'd have stayed in until I retired.
In Basic, you're reaching out farther all the time and YOU CAN DO IT! Hell, if I could, anybody could. You can pick and choose what you want to be trained for, your AIT (Advanced Individual Training).
IMHO, every able-bodied person that's of age, should have to go through Basic. Be Prepared.
I got gung-ho and went Air-Assualt, 101st and got my butt sent to Viet Nam. Yea-haw. That sucked on fried ice.
My advice would be talk to a recruiter and check out all your options. My sisters best friends husband just back from Iraq and he's right proud. He has a right to be. Check out the other branches ot the military. Navy might be right; or Marines. I've got two nephews in the Marines, and they love it. Air Force? You don't have to fly. You could learn how to fix jet engines. The possibilties are mind boggling! CHECK IT OUT!!

Well unless you become an officer, you will have one hell of a physical job. The Army is not bad, but don't join because you liked the commercials. Ask yourself why you want to do it. Patriotism is a good reason for some. But its hard to think of patriotism when you are ordered by a much younger jack *** to clean the toilets or some other demeaning task.

They take up to 42 now. But you need to make sure you qualify physically for the 18 yo requirements. As for the physical job, you better understand that most jobs in the military have a desk. Yes, there's PT and FTXs. But a lot of jobs require garrison time. If physical is what you want, then combat arms is what you want. I sit at a desk and hate it. I want to be out there, too. I did the college route and turned down my ROTC scholarship. And this is the POS existence it gave me. I'd rather be in the **** with the grunts and groundpounders.

I don't think joining the army is a good idea. That means risking your life for what-nothing. War is stupid. If you want a physical job, then just be a football player or something. When more people join the army it's just increasing war.

Can you kill your fellow man, perhaps a child or two? If you are predispositioned towards killing, the army might just be a perfect fit for you! Really any branch of service. The USA is becoming the human extremanator for the world. You do not like that group of people, call the US armed forces, never mind congress they are fat lazy retards! Sure kid, if you want to kill for a living the armed services might be a great idea, then again maybe not!

24 is not too old.

I was in the Army and had a great experience. I did my 6 and then got out because my husband and I wanted kids.
My hubby is still in the Army.

It is really a decision you have to makeon your own.

No, you're not too old, but you might have to pass the PT test and medical exam. Call your local recruiting office and ask.

Joining the army is a good idea if you're willing to make the commitment to serve, otherwise you're letting us all down.
