Well, your question is a loaded one. First off it is apparant that you don't like the man who did, in fact, win the 2000 election, but was cheated by illegial and nefarious means, but that is besides the point.

The thing is that most US citizens are not smart enough to recognize the massive problem that global warming presents because they believe that it isn't going to affect them. Reality paints a different picture. When we as a nation finally do wake up it will be far too late to reverse the very serious problems that global warming will present.

Secondly Bono is an enormous rock star, who has been in the global publics eye since the mid 80's. With more than 20 years of global mega-stardom, nearly every internet savy person on the planet is at least aware of him. The average young Britton, or German on the other hand, would scarcely have even heard Al Gore's name before.

Thirdly, poverty is a problem that everybody knows about and can relate to, contrary to that is the debate between people who know and understand the global warming problem vs. the fools who would deny that it is even happening. Many Americans fail to look at facts when they make up their minds on issues like this. Similar to how many conservatives think that the War in Iraq is the war on terror even if all the facts say otherwise.

Comparing Bono to Al Gore in a popularity contest is like pitting Oswald the Rabbit against Bugs Bunny. Stupid and pointless.
