Parts are used in ratios. 3 parts mix is anything between 3 microliters and 3 kiloliters, depending upon how big a margarita you are making. If it's 3 parts mix, 2 parts tequila I'd suggest 3 ounces mix and 2 ounces of tequila.

check out your local liquor store. though, they're just trying to get you to buy the more expensive 1800. You can get the mix, and it will taste just as good with regular Cuervo Gold. You can't tell the difference in the flavors of 1800 and gold when you mix, so don't fall into their trap!!!

The best margarita mix I've found is the jose quervo mix, but do not use their tequila. Use either Cabo Wabo Silver tequila or patron silver, quentro or however you spell it (sweet liquor) and make sure to drop 2 lime wedges in the mixer when you are making it. make sure to shake with ice and strain into your glass with ice.
