What makes a good relationship? How about a relatively short list?

* When the parties involved have enough in common to be able to understand each other, but enough differences to keep life interesting.

* When both parties support each other's goals.

* When both parties realize that "love" is a decision they make, sometimes on a moment-by-moment basis, and not sex or some "warm fuzzy feeling" they get.

* When both parties know what their boundaries are and communicate those effectively to each other.

* When the parties make time for each other every week and stick to it, regardless of anything else.

* When the parties constantly communicate effectively with each other about virtually everything, including ( especially for the male in the relationship ) just listening without trying to "solve" everything.

* When both parties do their best to continue to build the level of trust between them.

* When the parties don't attempt to manipulate each other, but make their desires overt.

* When neither party uses money, sex or affection as a weapon.

* When both parties keep in mind that people change over time and make every attempt to adapt and adjust to these changes.

* When both parties value their relationship more than any other relationship.

* And when both parties have the patience and courage to stick with the relationship through thick and thin ( i.e. Don't bail just because there are stresses and pressures ).

Caring about the other person more than life itself. Trusting them is the most important thing in a relationship. You have to trust the other person because they are going to do what they are going to do no matter what and, unless they give you a reason not to trust them then always trust them. Give the other person space when they need it and be there for them when they need you the most.

Do you want to have the new age answer? Or the truth? I think you want the second. For a good relationship you need good sex, adequate money, and communication.
