not only is the Mayan prediction of the world ending as we know it in 2012, but also in the Native American prophecy known as the fifth fire...also 2012. Nastradamas also runs a parrallel prediction at this time. i would think that if a person was to dig into different sources, we would find the signs of the same 'revolution' everywhere. have you heard of 'the indigo children'? run a search you'll be happy to see from them that there is always hope. everything happens for the good...it seems that there comes a time of chaos before the change that can send us reeling, but the change will always be for the good.
remember when two minds think alike, things happen! like-minded people...people who have faith in the good! keep the faith and rest assured that the best is yet to come!
peace be with us all!

The Mayan Long count calendar doesn't say the world ENDS on 12-21-2012. What happens is on that date a new Baktun, the 13th Baktun, begins. (A Baktun is 396 years long.) So it's the end of the 12th Baktun, similar to 1999 being the end of the 20th century for us.
Also on 12-21-2012, there's a grand astronomical alignment at dawn between the rising sun and the Milky Way which signifies rebirth of the sun. The sun symbolizes the world ages, so this is a new age beginning, and this alignment only happens every 26,000 years so some call it a grand world age.
However there's nothing in there about our world ENDING-because it's already ended. That's why it's so horrible right now. We're waiting for the new world to begin.

About the New Age Movement: Aquarius is the water bearer. Water is the element of mind and knowledge. The Age of Aquarius, and the New Age Movement are here. You can see it everyday; people are opening their minds to new, less harmful ways to medicate; more efficient ways of getting into shape; experiencing spiritual enlightenment through other faiths besides Christianity, or having enough independent thought not to have a religion at all, etc...

About 2012: The Mayas, thus far, have been pretty accurate in their calendar about predicting other cosmic phenomenons. Why not this, too? However, I don't believe it will be the end of the world. It will be the beginning of a new era. It's my personal theory that someone will develop technology that will help save this planet from pollution, and reverse the effects of global warming. Or there will be a cure for AIDS and/or cancer.

Something revolutionary will happen.

The earth has a slow wobble about it's axis of rotation. It completes one cycle of this wobble roughly every 24,000 years. As it goes through this cycle, the position of the rising sun against the background of stars changes for any given day of the year.

Ancient people gave significance to the winter solstice (shortest day of the year), and took notice of the position of the sun as it rose against the background stars on that day. They had already noticed that there are roughly 12 lunar cycles in a year, and had figured out how to use the rising sun against the background of stars to determine what month it was - a primitive calendar. They gave these star groups names and made up stories to help them remember. (these became gods later on)

Because of the 24,000 year wobble, the sun enters a 'new age' roughly every 2000 years. We are now entering Aquarius. The previous age was Pisces (the fishes). The dawn of Pisces was the catalyst that started Christianity. Christianity was the new age movement of its day.

The Mayans developed a very sophisticated calendar to track all this, and predicted the current new age in 2012. That's the point at which their calendar stops - on the date of the winter solstice in 2012.

The new age movement is a little out there,so I do not follow that movement.
the year 2012 is a wrong date. And what was supposed to happen at that time happened in 2002. check the mexican news stories. The Mayans god came back and observed how the knowledge that was taught by those of reknown to the mayans in one word" backfired".
leaving behind sentinals. The Gods departed with much dismay but will soon return to destroy their creation. It will not be the end of the world but it will be the end of their creation.

I've only heard the 2012. Yeah, I guess ppl say the world will get by and asteroid, but it won't end the world. Maybe it's a cycle, cuz it would probably end all technology and start it over, like Noah with the flood and the Moses with parting the water cuz of Pharoah. maybe it's how the egyptians built the pyramids, then the technology wuz lost.

We are undoubtedly going back to basics healthwise, which can only be a good thing. I have no concrete idea of what will happen in 2012, but I look forward to it if it means an end to religion and the arrogance and bloodshed that accompanies it.
I think we are heading for an enlightenment of sorts ( not one of any of our known and practised methods of organised religion), but definately one of a higher vibration that is more in tune with the universe.

The new age movement has been around since the 60's. It is not new. We were in the age of Aquarius at that time. New Age is a different kind of spirituality. In fact a whole bunch of the new agers are now the extreme political right. I.m not sure how that happened. New Age is calm and anti-war.. how did they get to where they are now???

New age movement is satanic.
2012 the Mayan calender predicts the END of the world.(wordl as we know it anyway)
The only hope we have is in Jesus, and when he returns with his kingdom, only then will this world be at total peace. So the world will stil be here, and those who are in Christ will be in eternal peace

The age of aquarius refers to the constellation of aquarius revolving to the forefront of the nighttime sky. This happens every ....2000 years, I think. The constellation of Pisces began to move away a few years ago, Aquarius is next. Before Pisces was Aries, and before that was Taurus. I recommend this site:
