I'm going to guess no because of the contamination issue. Plus, someone has to be alive and pumping blood to an organ to keep it viable. Once it's out of you, they're sewing you up, so by the time they die, the kidney's already been out for a long time with no blood flow, and they have to then open you back up. Probably too much time would elapse to make it a viable organ.

That's my best guess anyway.

i don't think it would be a good idea
an organ transplant is a very complicated medical procedure and
the treatment coming after that is more complicated and is for very long term
and it is not shore your body will take that kidney back or will rejected like a foreign body
and if you have a good kidney nobody will play with that and do a transplant operation and give you the medical treatment for that
and destroy your good kidney left
that's an utopia

The doctors would need to have enough time to deposit it back where it belongs. Since organs must come from "live" donors there is a sensitive time limit between remving the kidney from the donor and implanting it into the recipient. I would say based on this knowledge it is highly unlikely that you would be able to get it back. Ask your doctor. He would be able to tell you best.

First, the chances of death are minimal (less than 1%) in most cases.

Second, as most are done laparoscopic, you probably wouldn't want them to cut you open to reinsert your kidney. It would not be worth it as you can live just fine with one kidney.

Lastly, I am sure, if the organ is still usable, you would have the option to donate it to another person.

If you have donated it, they would give your kidney to the next person who needs a kidney, they probably won't give it back..

Wow. thats a good question. I would think you would have that option if the kidney is still good. OR, you can give it to another needy, willing, wanting person to save their life.

I am pretty sure you can have it back, or it might be donated to someone else. It's a pretty complicated process. Make sure your doctor goes through all the details and whatnot before you take the plunge.

yes because its yours but putting it back might cause other problems. like you will have to take drugs to keep your own body from rejecting the kidney. once its out your body no longer accepts it as your own anymore even if you put it back in.
