Eye burgers....for the love of God, I hope you mean eye boogers.

These crusty deposits come from dissolved salts and materials in our tear ducts. As we sleep, fluid drains out of the tears ducts, and there are dissolved materials in this fluid, including some from mucus in our sinuses and nasophayngeal cavity (read: nose and mouth). As the water evaporates, the crust is left behind.

It's from the build up of tears at night. You see, when you are awake, and you blink, a thin layer of tears covers your eyes to wash away debris like dust. When you sleep, there is a thin layer of tears constantly covering your eyes, and the salt has to go somewhere, so it collects near the corners of your eyes, where there is less pressure put on the eyelids, thus here are your eye "bugers".

The same reason you get nose boogers.

Mucal secretions are excreted to trap dust, dirt,
eyelashes, etc. that have gotten in your eye.

The booger goo can easily slide along to the corners
of your eyes and get rid of the foreign matter.

LOL. I thought I was the only one who called them that! My friend works as an opthalmic technician and I asked her about it-she said it's when our eyes get dry and they produce moisture to flush out impurities. Makes sense to me-I've had more of them since I started wearing contacts.

First off, it's eye boogers... Secondly, it's your eyes way of cleaning itself out while you're sleeping. You eyes are just getting all that gunk out.. You should be quite thankful and just wipe those little nasties away!
