Evolution is a progression of incremental improvements. From a common ancestor, different ethnic groups within Homo sapiens have adapted to different environments, through skin and eye color, etc. In the new global environment we have created, surely you must consider one relatively homogeneous group within our heterogeneous species to have a net survival and reproductive advantage over the others. Which one do you think is more evolved?

I'm not racist at all. I'm not alluding to anything at all. I'm simply asking evolution fans to share their views to satsfy my curiosity.

pablitio,
My line of thinking said nothing about the significance of how long any species or group has been in existence. Where did you draw that conclusion from?!?

furious chemical,
You are ignorant of the question and the issues. Evolution has acted more on a specimen or group within a species that has a net survival or reproductive advantage over other members of the species. Therefore it is more evolved.

BTW my question pointed out that any assessment should be made with regard to the current environment.

Common misconception
The term highly or most evolved is erroneous. A human is no more evolved then a cockroach. In fact if one wants to follow your line of thinking the cockroach would be considered higher because it has been around much longer then humans have.

I don't really think any ethnic group has a competitive advantage in the modern world. Because evolution occurs over millions of years, and human civilization is a new invention, being only about 6000 years old, no ethnic group has evolved any sort of adaptation to outcompete others within a civil society. Humans are still a species best suited for survival in the stone age, not modern society.

Well it all depends on thier environment. The first step to evolution is adaptation.
The african Pigmies can survive on less than a teaspoon full of water a day. Can you? No. They have adapted to thier environment, you haven't.
The Inuit peoples of northern Canada can survive on an all meat diet. Such a diet would kill many other people. They have adapted to thier environment. And see what happens when foods they don't normall have access to are artificially introduced to them too quickly. The rate of diabetes and obesity has risen by almost 600% over the last 100 years.
And there are many other examples. If you need more, just ask.
Oh and Carol_M? thanks for the laugh. It always makes me feel better knowing people like you are around. That way, no matter how bad things get in my life I can always say "see? It could be worse, I could be a stupid as her!" so thanks for that!

The ones in Africa became Homo sapiens. That's pretty well established by the fossil and genetic record. The populations of H. erectus elsewhere either died out on their own or were replaced by H. Sapiens. H. Sapiens may be able to adapt to different climates, but previous hominids, without technology, were far less able to adapt. They were limited to areas with climates that were tolerable without fire and clothing, and food supplies that were accessable without tools other than basic spears, thrown rocks, and digging sticks (all of which we've seen other primates use, so we know they were within the ability of H. erectus to manage).

Evolution does not have a direction except that which the environment gives it. There is no such thing as "more" evolved. There is no such thing as "highly" evolved. a reproductive advantage could be more children, or less children, depending on environmental conditions. For instance, why do humans usually have only one child at a time when they could have 5? It just happens to be beneficial at this time.

Well, I don't like to break apart different ethnic groups, but on an intelligence scale, I'd have to say oriental ethnic groups seem to be much brighter than many others. Then it could be because they're taught to strive toward education more than Americans, meaning they work a lot harder, so maybe its not so much higher intelligence as it is higher expectations.

Ethnic groups mean nothing.
If you are alluding to the Aryans then we have bigger problems. The Aryans are a people somewhere around Iran technically. The Nazi misinterpretation of them sounds more like they were seeking the nephilim, which if you believe christian mythology, were wiped out by the flood... too bad they wasted their time eh?

One can only be better adapted to suit a certain environment. Since humans don't have a specific habitat like most animals we can say that overall, no group is more evolved, we can only say that certain groups are better suited for certain things.

OK you can't be serious with this prejudiced question. All races have evolved would you like me to say white is superior???? When actually we are the minority in the global sense. Maybe your kind will be obsolete first!!!!( I mean the prejudiced people of all races)

Evolution doesn't exist, another fairy tale that scientists propagate because they can't figure out how we got here. Just wait a while and they'll change their minds again. Shifting sands... So, how does that make ya feel? See, we can say it, too.
