Yes, you are so very right here with what you say, as much as some here are trying to deny it. My daughter went to Honduras to visit her boyfriend. My daughter is white, with very blonde hair (but brown eyes). Her boyfriend's family nearly idolated her because of her "whiteness." It made her feel very uncomfortable. She noticed that a lot of the girls there carry umbrellas everywhere they went and when she asked them why, they said to prevent their skin from getting darker. Also, she noticed that a LOT of the women dye their hair blonde, to try to more emulate white people.
So, yes, I would say most dark skinned ethnic people do want to whiten their family lines.

They do not call all White Americans racist. Those that do, probably would not be marrying one since they are racist. I dont think my husband prays for blonde haired blue eyed children. In fact I think there is little chance of that. I would like it though, usually darker skin and eyes are dominant. I have a feeling that my children will look very little like me. But thats ok, my hubbys pretty good-looking. Oh wait, I had a point, you should not generalize this idea that you have.

This is a tough one, and i think for you. I've a teenaged son that is not racist, nor did I raise him to be. Sadly, there are external influences that you just can't control that have an impact on them. If she does it again i'd just inform her that you do not admire the comments and that on your presence she is to preserve it to herself, however let her comprehend what she is doing and that you do not approve of her feedback, no longer that you just disprove of her. She is still younger and has quite a lot of growing as much as do. And to the poster that stated "white guilt" b.S. On that. This society could use a little compassion on both sides. Racism is part of our culture and our psyche...The sooner we handle that the at an advantage we will be. EDIT--Sorry, I learn the question fallacious. I might definately drop her as a buddy, and i am sorry that I proposal it used to be your daughter who's racist...I need to read slower!

white ppl aren't the only blonde hair/blue eyed ppl. get a clue & come out of ur shell my friend. ur so ignorante y te vas a pudrir. i would never marry a white American, & why is it that white ppl also marry blacks or puerto ricans or any other race, so their kids can have curly hair? grow up & be realistic u small minded idiota. Plus Marriage between white ppl rarely last & end in divorce, so i think i'm better off w/o one. thanks, but not thanks.

You have to admit, alot of cultures that have mixed colors in their population, for some reason?, tend to praise the light skin, and condescend the colored?. I personally dont know exactly why, but a hispanic friend of mine said they consider dark colored people to be less evolved.....comparing their skin color to their social status. I myself am not sure the validity of that statement, I think dark skin is the effect of sun exposure of generations and nothing more!

Cause it beats the sh^t hole of a coutry they came from. If I lived somewhere like N. Korea I'd marry a 700lb dude with dread locks in his armpits. Beats getting publicly executed.

Because it's a status symbol. That raises the question, why would someone want to be somebody else's status symbol?
Weird...
