to keep us warm, thats why the head has lots (except you lol!)
coz 80% of body heat is lost through the head.
Also thats why the hairs on your arms / legs stand up when its cold, they are trying to capture air and use it.
The Eyebrows stop sweat dripping in our eyes

Well in the past (ziiiilions of years ago) there were no clothing or any other things to cover our bodies so hair did grow to protect us from cold... its like animals... then when things changed and we started to walk and dress up hair was not that needed so it did disapear in many places, but hair was there from the beginning to protect us from different conditions such as weather etc...
