One ounce of avocado has about 5 grams of fat, which is 45 calorie. BUT it's monounsaturated fat, which is "good" fat and won't clog arteries. I wouldn't recommend substituting avocado for butter though. The flavor in avocado is too bold to be used instead of butter. The best fat substitue, at least in baking, is plain applesauce. When it's mixed into a batter (cake, brownies, muffins) you can't taste it and it cuts out almost all fat while adding vitamins! Good luck.

There are 29g of fat in the average avacado. However, I wouldn't worry about it since most of it is mono- and polyunsaturated fat with only 4g saturated. Avacados are also high in nutrients such as vitamin C, vitamin K, folate and fibre.
