You often hear that there was no connection, but this turns out to be just another liberal, bald faced lie. It's common knowledge that there was a rather strong working relationship between the two, to the point that many of Al Queda's heavy hitters were taken into custody IN IRAQ. Now, some of the classified material from within the regime is becoming declassified and it paints a rather grim picture of the left in this country. It shows an Iraq that had develop substantial WMD, had trained thousands of terrorists, had strong ties to Al Queda (not to mention being their sole source of money, initially) and had definite plans to make terrorism a weekly occurance here in the US. The war stopped all that COLD.

That's not the important part. The important part is that politicians on the left knew all this and lied about it. Why? Because they wanted this to happen. They wanted many 9/11s. How should we respond to this?

Sorry, but your agrument is falacious. Prior to the illegal invasion of Iraq, Saddam had such an iron grip on his country that AQ could not have been present. It wasn't until after the debacle of the US invasion that AQ moved in and started operations there, and that is why AQ "heavy hitters" are there.

Your statement "... shows an Iraq that had develop substantial WMD, had trained thousands of terrorists, had strong ties to Al Queda (not to mention being their sole source of money, initially) and had definite plans to make terrorism a weekly occurance here in the US" is pure Rush Limbaugh rhetoric, completely unfounded in any reality of truth.

As for your allegation that the Iraq invasion stopped anything else happening, you are once again, misguided. If the 911 attack was even planned and executed by people outside the US government, then the setup took years to plan and stage; I am certain that other events are being staged and planned here in the US, and it's just a matter of time until they are realized.

We should respond to this by growing a brain. We should stop blaming "liberals" for the mess this country has made of international politics, because the leftwing has been out of authority in this country since 1996, and if the GOP can't do better in a decade, it's time to ask some really serious questions about their capabilities.
WMDs? What WMDs? There were no WMDs found in Iraq, puddinhead.
As far as Al Queda's "Iraq Connection," it was one of the many places they hung out, sure. It still is one of the places they hang out. It probably always will be one of the places they hang out ... since it is right next door to their HOMELAND, which is Saudi Arabia (unless you don't count nationality as meaning much in international terrorism).
No, that's not the important part. The important part is that liars in government should be ousted. Their parties should be outlawed. They should be run out of the country on a rail, tarred and feathered, and offered up as examples to the rest of the world. Damn all liars.
Now who was it who promised that there were WMDs in Iraq?

Wow! To think that these two areas had NOTHING to do with each other would be crazy. They probably traded notes on the best way to kill people who they don't like while justifying it with religion. Yes, I'm sure that the left "lied" about it...they all have ties to big business and make loads of money of from the oil companies that they used to work for. And they are just waiting to get caught in their deals with contractors regarding the kickbacks...or tribes...or sexual scandals...or misuse of public money. Yeah...the left is in control and look where we are. To even hint that any true American knew about 9/11 and said nothing...or wants more...is true insanity. Even Tim McVeigh and his group have quieted down after 9/11 (Tim, for good reason) because we were attacked from outside. Its one thing to pick on your brother...a whole other deal when a stranger does it. You always stay together.
How to respond?...If you feel that our political system has become so bad that it can't be fixed and you don't feel that you have the supprt to fix it...move. Otherwise...vote, and get others to also.

I am not sure of your discourse. Here's my answer to your questiion though...The justification for going into conflict in Iraq was that Sadam wasn't behaving himself and was developing WMD's. The evidence of any programs in place to develop WMD's was scant...yeah plans were on the table, however are plans a reason to go to war? Bush apologized to us about not finding any WMD's there. There has NEVER been a proven link between Iraq and Al Queda...Bush acknowledges this and apologizes for his mistake. Now we are mired in a conflict of ideals...we're not fighting over OIL or Democracy as many would have us believe. It's unfortunte that Bush sees himself as a Crusader that has to bring "Christian Values" to the Muslim world...In fact American policy has long been driven by that idea for the Middle East. It's no wonder they hate our policies, our government, and unfortuantely us as individuals.

We need to learn to respect ourselves, others, and the environment and put those ideals above all others than maybe we can live in peace!

even if the CIA did not wreck the 1991 change. It performed that is propaganda in BAGHDAD! They worked the loophole! i do not keep in mind the quote note for note, yet, it become from the movie customary Suspects: "the sumptuous trick the devil did, become convince the international he did not exist." something to that impact. The crimes the Bush/Cheney administration have committed are so heinous that it will be problematic to settle for the actuality. As for it not being newsworthy, because the author stated, the media manipulates the media. one extra movie quote, "the actuality! you could' cope with the actuality!"... and that is the actuality, for the final public of people have their heads buried interior the proverbial sand and their nostril to the grind stone because they have been inspired to bypass right into a lot debt to stay the yankee dream that they don't have the time to fret about what some politicians are doing because they're being distracted by using beaver pictures of Paris Hilton! *adjust tinfoil hat* in my opinion, i believe Ron.

This is a highly politically charged question. I won't engage in a political discussion because you won't change anybodies mind atleast. you will almost never change anybodies mind.

There are a miriad of sources that are non-governmental and non-partisan which say that there was no evidence to suggest such a union and that such a union doesn't make any sense.

Why? because al-qaeda is FUNDAMENTALIST group seeking a pan-islamic world. They want us all to worship allah in their way, and then again only if you weren't born in the west.

The Ba'athist government of Saddam Hussein was a SECULAR institution. They weren't good muslims according to bin-laden and his group. So they were also the enemy. These two organizations are dia-metrically opposed. The only reason al-qeada didn't go after them was because they could go after US which by the way is a much better PR move in the muslim world. If you wanted to tell me that saddam was supporting hamas, or islamic jihad. Ok I am with you, but those terrorists are political ones.

They are seeking a political change in israel, and as such are NOT the same as al-qaeda and it's associated groups which are fighting for THEOLOGICAL change.

Iraq at no point supplied any real amount of money to al-qaeda, WE did that. WE gave the mujahadeen (the fore-runners of al-qaeda billions of dollars during the reagan administration to fund their fight against the soviets). Then later bin-laden financed their venture on their own.

The heavy hitters of al-qeada were found in iraq? which ones? none of them, except for al-zarqawi (sp?), and he was the leader of al-qaeda in iraq which formed in Iraq after the invasion? Why? Well why train guys to shoot at dummies when you can train them to shoot at soldiers, and make bombs that really work? You obviously don't have much in the way of military experience because the best way to learn anything is to do it.

There were no terrorist threats against us coming from iraq BEFORE the war they are there now because that is where our forces are, if you follow the pattern of al-qaeda, it was first called the mujahadeen, or holy warriors, who first fought the soviets in afghanistan.

What they are hoping for is that this war will cost us so much that our system will collapse and they will rally other muslims to their cause. They are fighting the great heaten in their view, they are fighting the good fight and winning because Allah is on their side.
This is what they want to be able to say to their perspective recruits who are ALL young disenfranchised muslim youth (mostly males).

See what happened in afghanistan is that the CIA supported the mujahadeen in their fight with the soviets, and eventually the soviets pulled out of afghanistan, and the costs of that war cause d the soviet system to colapse. They are hoping for similar results in iraq.

Look at the facts that are not presented by a political organization and then make an informed decision.

I am a lliberal, but I don't think all conservatives are stupid, I don't think they are evil by definition. But you are not helping raise the level of political discourse by spouting other peoples thoughts without considering and analyzing the evidence and coming to your own conclusion. And to suggest that liberals WANTED 9/11 to happen or other attacks like it, is evil and stupid and you should be ashamed.

The fact is that Saddam was contained, we didn't NEED to invade, and we have gained nothing from it. It was a mistake to go there, and now we have real threats from other places in the world (iran, and the DPRK) and we cannot respond to them in an appropriate manner because we have so many resources tied up in iraq. And everytime a story comes out about US forces abusing Iraqi's (and I realize that this is not representative of US forces as a whole but a MICROSCOPIC minority) it confirms to the muslims (the potential al-qaeda recruits) that we are what al-qaeda says we are, evil.

We aren't evil, and we didn't deserve 9/11 and what we did to afhganistan was just and righteous, what we are doing in iraq, is just a waste of time, materials, man-power, lives, and is tapping our military and social strength.

Everything I have said here is 100% verifiable through non-partisan and non-political sources. There is no opinion here except for my assertion that the author of this question is saying stupid and inflamitory things, and that the war in iraq has served NO purpose (that is an opinion, a well educated opinion but an opinion none-the-less) Stop being a partisan hack and do some independant thinking on this subject.

Because the lefties are known for being cowards and running away with their tale between their legs. Iraq had connections with Al Queda before the war. They fund terrorism, so therefore, they are just as guilty as the dumb as*es who hijacked the planes!!

As much as I hate to say it your question is pointless as it really seeks confirmation of the truth from those who will never give it. I'm afraid those of us who support this war will just have to content ourselves with the knowledge that this mission is being accomplished, and leave the communist inspired radical left to bask in ignorance. The way we should respond is by making every effort we can to appeal to intelligent open minded people to look at ALL the evidence objectively. There are good people in this country who have been misled by the bombardment of distortions and lies of the left. We need to speak to them individually not in a forum like this where your arguements are so vigorously disputed by the liars that you lose the fight just by the sheer volume of their rhetoric. We must pick our battles and not waste energy on the Michael Moores of our society. We will never win the hearts and minds of people like him. Hearts and minds are won by truth, these people aren't interested in the truth, only in the result....and the result they want is the defeat of America.
